Hunter Gaddis (big bearded fella from Georgia, six-foot-six, has emphatically Figured It Out this year after some inconclusive journeys from Akron to Cleveland to Columbus and back to Cleveland again) vs. Juan Soto (26, soon to have several meetings where executives very eagerly try to give him half a billion dollars).
Pitch 1: Ball, a slider low, and Soto glares directly at Gaddis and does that crouching shuffle-slide in the batterโs box, which looks a little like a dance and also a little like if someone was scornfully kicking some dirt over the grave of your loved one.
