We knew this book was going to be good but wow. The effort to compile a bound, physical anthology of writing from The Awl turned out to be a spectacular trip through the wonderland of that old internet that we used to complain about so pleasantly all day. Hydra Carrie Frye, The Awl’s former managing editor, rounded up all these geniuses, who’ve gone on to so many different scenes and cities and places, and she has created a magical book, a history, a literary mash note, a treasure.
You gotta get a copy. And the way to get your very own hardcover copy is to visit the ongoing Phase Two Flaming Hydra fundraiser, and make a $45 pledge under the The Awl: The Book in the Rewards sidebar. You can make pledges for other reward items too, and even “add-on” the book to an existing pledge.
Here’s a small preview of what you will find within!!
