One Half-Life Later
by Harry Siegel
This is something I wrote, with the idea that someone would sing it though no one ever did, in about 1997, or 28 years ago.
It’s written around the opening couplet and the “rules of verse” bit (that’s also the title) near the end echoing Sweet Jane, from 1970, so 27 years before that.
It’s a lyric that just passed its half-life—that’s now closer in time to the thing it’s drawing from than it is to the present day.
